There are children of all ages and abilities living in the Southern Trust area who need love, fun and security until they grow up. Depending on their care plan, children may need short term care, long term care, respite support or a forever family. However, the Southern Trust needs you! They need loving homes for local children.
In effort to find more families, the Southern Trust welcomes anyone interested in caring for children and young people to a public information event:
Tuesday 22 October 2019, 7.00-9.00pm, Canal Court Hotel, Newry
The event will highlight Children and Young People’s Services and encourage individuals to think about how they could make a difference to a child or family living in their local area.
Individuals will have the opportunity to meet experienced foster carers, STAY Hosts and adoptive parents who have been through the assessment process and welcomed vulnerable and remarkable children and young people into their lives.
• Registration and refreshments 6.30-7.00pm
• Speakers 7.00-8.00pm
• Walk and talk: information stands 8.00-9.00pm
The information stands will share information about the following services:
• Fostering (Short-Term & Long-Term)
• Short Breaks (Children with Disability)
• STAY- supported lodgings 16+ years (ideal for individuals in employment)
Social workers will be available to answer questions and provide information regarding training, support and finance.
A number of information stands will share the personality and interests of children who wait for a forever family. The children are between 5 and 13 years old and need permanency through long-term fostering. Please note that the children’s names have been anonymised.
